Money can be changed in Casas de Cambio, banks or on the street, though the later is not recommended. Beware of counterfeit Bs.100 and 200 notes. If the face on the watermark is different from that printed on the note it is probably a fake.

We are nearing La Paz’s cold, dry winter. Day-time temperatures will hover around 55 Fahrenheit with little rain.

In Santa Cruz day-time temperatures are around 72 Fahrenheit with light precipitation.

In Cochabamba day-time temperatures are around 66 Fahrenheit with little rain.

Airports

La Paz — John F. Kennedy Airport is located in El Alto about 10 km from the city center. Buses marked “aeropuerto” will take you there or you can arrive by taxi for approximately Bs. 35.
Cochabamba — José Wilsterman Airport is accessible on Micro ‘B’ from the main plaza or by taxi.
Santa Cruz — Viru Viru Airport is located 15 km from the city center and is accessible via taxi or minibus.

Bus Station

La Paz — Central terminal is near Plaza Antofogasta. Buses to Los Yungas leave from Villa Fatima and buses to Tiwanaku and Copacabana leave from the cemetery.
Cochabamba — Central terminal is on Ave. Ayacucho just south of Ave. Aroma.
Santa Cruz — Central terminal is on the corner of Ave. Cañoto and Ave. Irala.
